It’s a Formal Affair…at Flagler Surf Club Contest

Well the rainy weather finally broke through to some blue skies and killer stoke as the Flagler Surf Club held their first contest for it’s members this past Sunday.  Cars lined A1A for the “formal affair” as the boys donned bow ties and the girls paraded in sequins in their respective heats.   All for fun of course, as the intention behind the event is to help kids and their parents acclimate to competition surfing.

The Club’s organizer and founder Joe Eddy has really hit a heartfelt nerve within the community as his passion to bring a safe place for our children to grow and thrive as well as promote surfing as a positive healthy outlet for kids to experience is drawing a huge reception.  But it’s not just for the kids as there was even a “mommy push-in” category for the moms to get there surfing groove on.  And lets just mention the most awesome trophy’s I’ve ever witnessed… donated by local surf Momma on behalf of her son Mike Cianciulli  and artfully re-constructed by a few talented Surf Club members.

The youngest groms all received handmade participation certificates while the wahines got tiaras and the kahunas accepted flower leis.  It was a five star beach party and the beginning of something really quite special, especially when you have the volunteer help of Mrs. Pam.  Even Sun Bum the feel good sunscreen company has high fived the surf club unloading goodies for everyone to share…

So come on down to the beach as the Flagler Surf Club meets almost every Sunday at designated location.  For more info contact via Facebook here 🙂

Cheers and happy surfing!!
