Flagler Spotlight: Flagler Beach Gift Shop

FB-Gift-Shop-270-X115Sometimes the fun part of cruising around Flagler Beach is discovering the treasure tucked away in the corner – Flagler Spotlight introduces Flagler Beach Gift Shop, located in the plaza at Finn’s Beachside Pub. It’s the bright green storefront behind Rocky’s Pizza.

With doors open and welcome mat out for over 2 years now, owner Michelle Brown realized last year that there was another niche to fill in Flagler Beach, and simply rearranged her shelves to accommodate it. Originally targeting biker & Bike Week clientele, Michelle saw opportunity in her beach location to expand her offerings and layer gift, souvenir and tourist merchandise into her retail strategy. She set about to change her store’s name to Flagler Beach Gift Shop and bring in commodities that were suitable for the broader spectrum of customers she meets cheerfully everyday. This new stock mix allows Michelle to still transform the store to cater to her bike clientele during the annual bike events.

Her business card reads “Jewelry, Shells, Gifts, Flagler Beach Souvenirs & Tees” and the Super Special right now is a selection of $2.99 shark tooth and shell necklaces, perfect for souvenir shoppers.  While her merchandise is popular with tourists looking for Flagler Beach t-shirts, keepsakes, or perhaps even a gator item (like a man requested when taking this interview:)) her inventory isn’t only for visitors.  I spied several items that would look lovely on my shelves or perhaps in a basket of goodies for my beach lifestyle loving friends.

Besides the very neat and organized displays of colorful gifts and beach decor, one of her best upgrades is the store’s own parking area and accessibility from the newly added door on North 2nd Street.  You no longer have to navigate through the Finn’s parking lot hoping for an available spot to park your vehicle.

As always I asked Michelle what her favorite thing is about owning a business in Flagler Beach. Her reply, “Having ocean views from both the front and back doors of the shop and the friendliness of the people.”  She also is very complimentary of her neighboring businesses saying that it’s a pleasure to know and work with them. “It’s a great community and I love Flagler Beach.”

So come check out the Flagler Beach Gift Shop and perhaps you will find that certain something for a special someone- and don’t forget to tell her Flagler Surf sent you-Cheers!Gift Shop Collage
