TRACK CLIMATE CHANGE THROUGH TIME AT GTM RESEARCH RESERVE AT MARINELAND

A look at the larger picture of ever-changing weather patterns, including a survey of methods used to track the rate and extent of climate change through time will be presented Tuesday, February 15, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Marineland office of the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTM NERR). Guest speaker George Getsinger is an ecologist and fisheries biologist with the National Marine Fisheries Service / National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  The program, titled Biological and Geological Indicators of Climate Change, is open to the public at no charge.

Getsinger has served with NOAA for 10 years.  His prior experience includes part-time faculty service at George Mason University and adjunct faculty service at Northern Virginia Community College.  As a scientific conference reporter with CASET Associates, he reported on conferences sponsored by the National Academy of Sciences, National Research Council, National Academy of Engineering, Environmental Protection Agency, and Congressional Commissions in Washington D.C., among others.  He studied at The College of William and Mary, and received a BA degree in anthropology and an MS degree in biology at George Mason University.
