Last night my treehouse family watched a heartfelt surf flick called Sliding Liberia. It’s a movie that constantly drives home the message that you should be grateful for what you have because so many are without. My intention is to try and teach my kiddos that the world around them is not video games, iPhones, and take-out food. When I was nine my family relocated to Haiti, the poorest country in our hemisphere. Talk about a big dose of culture shock! Horrific smells, starving naked children, and not being able to drink the water out of the tap are just a small list of the things I witnessed during our three month stay. The experience changed me for life and I am grateful for it.
And so I leave you with this: surf a wave, live your life, change the world.
Cheers!
