Recently the spirit of Mike “Bowler” Cristello touched down upon the soil of our little town and blessed our hearts with remembrance as a palm tree dedicated by Naturescapes was planted and a symbolic coquina rock adorned with a carved wooden surfboard stands proudly next to it.  The moment took place at the FB library with a crowd of friends and family dressed in memory with his shirt and bracelet, as his brother took the center moment to thank everyone for their support.  The smiles came out when Sully’s Surf Shop and the Flagler Surf Club essay contests winners lined up for their photo op, realizing they may not have  known Bowler in full capacity but his message rings loudly in their minds.  My children certainly do as I reiterate daily “Bowler says wear your sunscreen” with a twinkle in my eye wondering if he hears me.
