Description:
Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach invites children and their families to enjoy a kid’s Nature Hike with a Ranger down the one mile Joe Kenner nature trail on September 16, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.
The hike will last approximately 45 minutes and will begin at the Joe Kenner nature trailhead located in front of the restrooms on the Intracoastal Waterway side of the park. We will hike through the hammock and other parts of the park, ending at the lagoon for questions. We will cover native plants, animals, animal tracking and ecosystems of the area. It’s sure to be a fun program for kids of all ages! Program is limited to the first twenty participants.
All ages are welcome and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Sturdy shoes and long pants, sunscreen, insect repellant and drinking water are recommended. Participants should take caution around roots, rocks and low branches, and soft sand which are abundant on the trail and beach. Special accommodations are available upon request prior to the event. The cost of each event is included in the regular park entrance fee of $5.00 per carload of two to eight people, $4.00 for one person in a car and $2.00 per pedestrian or bicyclist.
