I was going to start this post with a re-cap of memories I shared with Tommy Tant.  However, with the recent tragic death of Andy Irons, a surf legend in the making, recollections of cheeky high school moments no longer seems appropriate.

So now I will write what my heart feels.  As the world gets smaller each step seems to bring us closer to loss and tragedy.  Daily stories of heartache reach out and pull tears from our eyes leaving us with a desperate wonder of when it will end.  Some days it feels like never…

But life continues on urging us to find that sparkle whether it be looking into the eyes of your loved ones or by igniting a passion within your soul to achieve your amazing-ness.  That is what the Tommy Tant Contest symbolizes…it is a community event infused with the hearts of a family who has suffered a tragedy.  This amazing production of camaraderie and love has changed me as a person.  It encourages me to do better and inspires me to be great.

My footsteps are not permanent here; I just hope they are deep enough to make a difference.
